Social and Emotional Learning:
A Vital Component of Lifelong Success
This session will cover what is meant by the term Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) as well as the skills and competencies necessary to: understand and manage emotions,
set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions.
SEL promotes young people’s resilience, academic success, health, and well-being at the same time that it prevents a variety of problems such as alcohol and drug use, violence, truancy, and bullying. Effective, practical supports and strategies to teach SEL will also be covered in this session.
