  •   Dawn Manchester ~ Formative Assessment in a Blended Learning setting
Are you looking for quick and easy ways to check for understanding at the beginning, middle or end of your lessons?  Join this session to learn and explore the many digital tools and programs you can use in enjoyable ways to easily document where your students are with their learning. Possible tools : kahoot, plickers. Google Forms, padlet, Answer Garden, etc.
  •   Ann Kaiser ~ Engage Your Inner Engineer: The Evolution from Science to Engineering in the STEM classroom

In today’s highly designed world, students are surrounded by engineered artifacts. They live in a world full of the application of what they learn in science class. Incorporating the Engineering Design Process (EDP) into science curriculum makes connections in the STEM fields accessible for all students. This workshop is designed to supplement the subject area knowledge and expertise of science and math teachers by focusing on the skills needed to engineer solutions to challenges. The Engineering Design Process is based on our natural creative instincts and can easily become of all teachers’ classrooms.

This workshop will use hands-on activities to highlight the “big picture” skills of problem definition, identifying constraints and criteria, and divergent thinking processes. Optimization, systems thinking, and prototyping (convergent skills) will also be discussed. Hands-on activities that are easily translated into your classroom will be used as springboards to finding your inner engineer and to developing meaningful subject-specific applications.
