You are cordially invited to attend Tri-County Regional Planning Commission's 2014 Annual Dinner.

Join us at the Hilton Harrisburg on May 1. Enjoy a delicious dinner, mingle with others in planning and related fields and hear from our keynote speaker, Galina Tachieva.

Ms. Tachieva is a partner and Director of Town Planning for Miami-based Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, a leading firm in urban planning and design.  She is author of “The Sprawl Repair Manual,” a guide for transforming decades of fractured development patterns into so-called “complete communities.” Subdivisions, strip malls and congested highways are the calling cards of a car-dependent development pattern that has defined growth in the latter half of the 20th Century.  In her book, Ms. Tachieva uses two decades of practical and successful experiences to lay out design, regulatory and implementation processes to deal with dispersed development.  She explains how to turn shopping plazas into town centers and isolated subdivisions into walkable neighborhoods.

Ms. Tachieva’s book has won multiple awards.  She is also one of the leaders of the Congress for the New Urbanism Sprawl Retrofit Initiative, a founding member of the Congress for European Urbanism and a board member of the New Urban Guild Foundation.  Ms. Tachieva serves on the board of directors with the Sky Institute, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), and is certified by the US Green Building Council as a LEED-accredited professional.
