VISIONARY MARIN 2015

The Marin Interfaith Council's 10th Annual Visionary Marin will honor the Rev. Dr. Jane Spahr & Ms. Laura Talmus at the Mill Valley Community Center. Visionary Marin is a fundraiser of the Marin Interfaith Council and features culinary delights, a raffle, a silent auction, program and reflections from our honorees. Join us Thursday, November 12, 2015 for a celebratory evening.

The Rev. Dr. Janie Spahr is an ordained lesbian Presbyterian minister who helped found the Spectrum Center for LGBT concerns and The Marin Aids Project. In May 2015 both organizations came together as the Spahr Center. Janie also created a ministry for the LGBT community nationwide, called That All May Freely Serve (TAMFS).  She retired as Minister Director in 2007 of TAMFS and continues to officiate at weddings for couples of same and opposite gender. 

Ms. Laura Talmus founded Beyond Differences along with her husband, Averell “Ace” Smith, following the unexpected death of their daughter, Lili Rachel Smith, in October 2009.  Passionate about bringing awareness to the issue of adolescent social isolation, Laura is the Executive Director and runs the day-to-day operations of Beyond Differences-a student leadership organization dedicated to ending social isolation among middle school students through online and campus programs.
