ABOUT ON TO 2050

Now in development, ON TO 2050 will be the next comprehensive plan for metropolitan Chicago. Our region has changed in significant ways since the new plan's predecessor, GO TO 2040, was adopted unanimously in 2010 by leaders from across the seven counties. Collaborative efforts at the local, state, and federal levels have helped to implement GO TO 2040 recommendations, yet difficult realities persist even as new challenges continue to emerge.

CMAP and its partners are beginning a series of ON TO 2050 Big Ideas Forums to engender debate about topics -- Climate, Economy, Government, Housing, Land Use & Development, Natural Resources, Transportation, and more -- that will shape the region's future. Participants will influence the policy emphases of this vitally important plan as it proceeds toward adoption in October 2018.
