Research Day Focus 

The Department of Medicine is committed to creating dynamic and ambitious partnerships that contribute to the well-being of people and medicine worldwide.

Research Day is designed to showcase and celebrate the work of young investigators as well as provide a platform to share innovative ideas and concepts while creating an engaging dialogue between faculty and trainees.

Research Day Agenda

9:00 - 11:45 am
Poster set up. All posters will be grouped according to category (fellows; residents; graduate students and post-docs). Easels and boards (40x60) will be set up and push pins will be supplied. Name tags will be placed alphabeticaly on the boards within each category. Please locate your nametag and have your poster in place by 12:00 pm.

12:00 - 12:15 pm
Introductions by Robert Salata, MD, and Thomas Hostetter, MD

12:15 - 12:25 pm
Overview of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine research by Mark Chance, PhD, Vice Dean, Research, School of Medicine, Director, Center for Proteomics and Bioinformatics

12:30 - 1:30 pm  
Plenary sessions of oral presentations by invited faculty: 

  • Cynthia Owusu, MD, (Division of Hematology & Oncology); 
  • Krisztina Papp-Wallace, PhD (Division of Infectious Diseases & HIV Medicine); 
  • David Zidar, MD, PhD (Division of Cardiovascular Medicine) 

Boxed lunch will be provided.

Competition Details

Judging categories include:

  1. Fellows
  2. Residents
  3. Post-doctoral and graduate students

Abstract/poster instructions:
Abstracts should not exceed 500 words. All abstracts must be typed, single-spaced, using a Times New Roman 12 font. For presentations, posters may be either in portrait or landscape orientation.

Deadline for receipt of abstracts is Monday, May 1, 2017.

In addition to submitting abstracts, all poster presenters must be registered for the event.

Awards will be presented to the top poster winners in each group at the Department of Medicine Spring Dinner.
