GOING BALD TO SUPPORT CANCER - A HEAD SHAVING FUNDRAISER February 27th, 7:30 at the Kirby Athletic Center!

The St. Baldrick's Foundation, the largest private funder of children's cancer research, will host one of its signature head-shaving events at the Allan P. Kirby Athletic Center on the Lafayette College campus on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 7:30pm, where we hope more than 30 shavees will shave their heads to raise money for lifesaving childhood cancer research. The shave starts during the men's basketball team half time.

Details can be found at https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/Lafayette.

The Big Shave is being hosted for the 7th year and is an initiative led by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee which has raised over $147,000 to date.  Almost every athletic team at Lafayette participates along with many Easton children and families and the extended Lehigh Valley community.  All are invited to fundraise in memory of David Heard who passed away on February 10, 2011 and is the beloved son of Tom (Class of '91) and Susan Heard who live on College Hill in Easton.  The family has established a Hero Fund in David's memory, named David's Warriors which honors David's final wish - to fund pediatric cancer research so that no other child has to die from cancer.  David spoke at a local event 9 years ago and closed his speech by asking his mom to shave her head (which she did). That sparked the Heard's investment in continuing to fund research long after their own son passed away.
