Description:

Participants will learn about how the therapeutic needs of their clients can be met through the appropriate use of digital tools in play therapy.  Children’s play has transformed in the past decade, due to a sociocultural shift towards technology.  It is important for child mental health professionals to understand how these changes impact childrens’ lives, along with play therapy treatment.  This training will provide a literature review and information about current standards and ethics regarding incorporation of technological interventions in play therapy treatment.  Attendees will be able to learn and use various innovative new tools, including the Virtual Sandtray App (VSA).  Participants will have the ability to engage in active discussions and experiential learning with technological interventions.

Learning Objectives:

Participants completing this workshop will be able to:

    2. Identify research findings relative to positive and negative impacts of technology on child’s play and incorporation in play therapy sessions.
    3. Recognize the current standards and ethics to consider when incorporating technology in play therapy.
