ASCE T&DI Holiday Luncheon
December 06, 2018

Tampa Streetcar Modernization Study and St. Petersburg Central Avenue Bus Rapid Transit

ASCE Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) cordially invites you to kick-off the holidays with your fellow colleagues and learn more about exciting projects to improve public transportation in Tampa and St. Petersburg.

During this lunch buffet banquet, Ms. Andrea Ostrodka, AICP will present the St. Petersburg Bus Rapid Transit Project; and Mr. Steven Schukraft, AICP, ENV SP will share with you more insights on the Tampa Streetcar Modernization & Expansion Study.

Project Highlights:

Tampa Streetcar Modernization & Expansion Study aims at providing transit solution that supports the City’s vision for a livable, connected, and competitive Downtown. This project defines and evaluates the various options for modernizing the existing streetcar system to better serve the mobility needs of residents, workers, visitors, and students in the Tampa Downtown, Ybor City, Channel District, and surrounding urban neighborhoods.

St. Petersburg Central Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is the first of several crucial connections toward an ambitious vision for modern mobility in the Tampa Bay region. This project will support community redevelopment goals and expand mobility options by offering a rapid transit connection between the downtown St. Petersburg Innovation District, the City of South Pasadena and the City of St. Pete Beach.  The project includes several features designed to significantly reduce travel time along the 11-mile corridor, including business access and transit lanes, off-board fare collection, and transit signal priority. The Central Avenue BRT is funded jointly by PSTA, the City of St. Petersburg, the City of St. Pete Beach, the Florida Department of Transportation, and Federal Transit Administration.
