Ethics Code Review for 2018 - 2019

Anthony R. Quintiliani, Ph.D., LADC, is a clinical health psychologist -Doctorate who is licensed in Vermont (Psychology and Addictions ). Dr. Quintiliani is past President of The Vermont Psychologica Association, past Clinical Director at Howard Center (mental  health and substance use treatment programs), past clinical trainer for the VT Office of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs (ADAP) and the VT Department of Mental Health. He also teaches graduate level clinical courses at The University of Vermont Graduate Counseling Program, and at The Southern New Hampshire University, Program in Community Mental Health (Now PCMH resides at Northern Vermont University). He has over 35 years of  successful works experience in community clinics, public and private schools, and higher education. He has also taught courses at The Ohio State University. He has published the book Mindful Happiness and created the blog site at www.mindfulhappiness.org.

Seminar Objectives

1. Learn core content of the NAACAC substance Use Code of Ethics.
2. Learn about areas with high risk including boundary issues, confidentiality, clinical expertise, use of technology, helpers’ mental health, etc.
3. Participate in live practice via role plays dealing with ethical hard spots including boundary issues, confidentiality, dangerous client behaviors, duty to report, duty to warn, etc.
4. Learn about evidence-based treatments for substance use, abuse and addiction related to clinical competence aspects of ethics

Clarification questions will be accepted during the presentation with discussion on content.

The Day's Agenda:

8:00 - Registration
9:00 - Introduction to the NAADAC Code and the workshop day
9:15 - Cover core components of the Code of Ethics
10:15 - Break
10:30 - Continue with core components
12:00 - Lunch Break - Enjoy the local lunchtime opportunities - *The resort does not permit outside food.*
1:00pm - Cover risk areas noted above - boundaries, confidentiality, clinical expertise, use of technology, the helper’s own mental health

2:30 - Break
2:45 - Live skills practices - Role plays on boundary pressures, confidentiality issues, dangerous client behaviors, duty to report, duty to warn (and protect), etc.
4:00 - Clinical competence components of the Code of Ethics - Evidence-based practices, etc.
4:30 - End, Evaluate, Certificate

There will be a total of six (6) LADC CEU credits available, which have been certifide by the VT Office of Professional Regulation.
