Pay Disparity Luncheon Seminar

On September 26, 2013, the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (“FAWL”) will present a luncheon seminar discussing the myths and realities of pay disparity between men and women in the law. The seminar will be held at the JW Marriott Marquis, 255 Biscayne Blvd Way, Miami, FL 33131 from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

The luncheon seminar will include such topics as recent data showing that females comprise less than 20% of equity partners in law firms nationwide, the recent Griesing v. Greenberg Traurig gender compensation discrimination case, policy and legal implications arising from gender pay disparity and what can be done to combat gender compensation differences.

 Speakers will include:

David Sanford, Chairman and Founding Partner at Sanford Heisler, LLP (Washington, DC)
Counsel for the plaintiff in Griesing v. Greenberg Traurig - a $200 million gender discrimination class action filed against Greenberg Traurig by a former shareholder of that firm. Mr. Sanford recently spoke at the United Nations on women's rights.

Judge Gill Freeman, Circuit Court Judge, Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida (Miami, FL)
Past president of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers.
