2017 Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area Opening and Symposium 

In conjunction with Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area and jointly sponsored by NanHai Art, Christie’s, and Asia Society Northern California, this two-part symposium features scholars, curators, artists, art critics, and Asian art specialists, distinguished in their own fields, coming together for an informative and interactive discussion on trends of contemporary Asian art from a global perspective. 

Entiled "Interitance and Transformation," Panel One focuses on artists who are deepely rooted in their cultural and artistic inhetritance, while revitalizing and enlarging their tradiytion with a distintly contemporary sensibility. Devoted to examning artists gibing voice to the varied and changing cultural landscape of identities, values, and beliefs, Panel Two, "The Changing Boundaries," invites artist, curator, and art critic to examine and discuss how Asian artists seek to reposition themselves in a global context. 

Featured speakers and panelists include Jay Xu, Bruce Pickering, Julia F. Andrews, Kuiyi Shen, Eric Shiner, Richard Vinograd, Betti-Sue Heartz, Robert C. Morgan, and Xu Tan.
