Organizing and Preserving Your Home Archives
Tuesday, January 26th
12:30 p.m.
Our homes are often treasures of documents, memorabilia, and other essential family heirlooms. Photographs, diaries, recipe cards, letters, books, and other items with sentimental value are imperative to preserve and organize to ensure their protection for future generations. Join New York State Archivist Tom Ruller and NYG&B President D. Joshua Taylor as they explore best practices for maintaining your home archives, including identifying materials to preserve, organizing objects and papers, and steps to ensure your collections remain an integral part of your family’s story.
D. Joshua Taylor, President of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, is a nationally known and recognized genealogical author, lecturer, and researcher. Joshua is deeply passionate about family history, is a frequent speaker at family history events across the globe, and hosts the popular PBS series, Genealogy Roadshow.
Thomas J. Ruller is the State Archivist of New York, a position he has held since 2015. Tom began his career with the State Archives as a Senior Archivist in 1988.
