Teen Suicide Awareness Workshop

FREE for anyone wanting to attend!

 

Bringing awareness, building courage, hope and resilience to make a difference in the face of real pain.

We offer the following breakout

sessions for attendees:

  

Teen Interaction Workshop - 10:00-11:50am  

 (Teens Only, 13 years and older)

This breakout session will supply the tools and knowledge necessary to help equip teens on how to "show up" for the task of supporting a friend or classmate when they are feeling broken down, by becoming the "First Responder." 

Adult Breakout Sessions

For Parents, School Officials, Community First Responders and other Professionals. We ask that each adult sign up for 2 out of 4 sessions i.e. 1 (one) from 10:00-10:50am and 1 (one) from 11:00- 11:50am.

The Impact of Cyber-bullying and Social Media on Suicidal Ideation

This presentation is looking through the lens of social media "gone wrong" through the eyes of a Police Officer, victim and parent. Bullying, no matter whether it is traditional bullying or cyber-bullying, causes significant emotional and psychological distress. In fact, just like any other victim of bullying, cyberbullied kids experience anxiety, fear, depression and low self-esteem. 

Conversations about Teen Suicide

This session is designed to provide context and language for parents and professionals who may be faced with starting the conversation of suicide, suicidal thoughts or ideation with teens.

 

Developing a Community of Support: Resourcing Together to Keep People Safe 

Examined the impact of communication for community development. Lets discuss and examine why effective communication is needed for all community development to be sustained. What resources do you have and know of? A session to help guide and understand protocol for a troubled teen.


The Christian Faith Response to the Crying Out Ones: The Church’s Ministry to Suicide, its Victims and Surviving Families

Gain knowledge about trauma of suicide, its effect upon families and friends of those who have committed suicide, providing sound biblical teachings of how to establish effective care through the ministries of the church to members and community.
