NLU Career Academy Part 3: The Show - Networking: An Essential Tool for Career and Life!

Networking is recognized as essential to job search success. Yet, it is one of the least understood (and most feared) of all parts of search and ongoing career management. Facilitated by Laura Kearney of Career Transitions Center of Chicago, this session helps participants get a grasp on networking as a "learnable skill" and key to career opportunity and connection. You will learn how to develop a values statement (elevator pitch) and how to broaden your networks and to utilize them for job search and career transition.

Laura Kearney is the programming intern at Career Transitions Center of Chicago (CTC), where she strives to make networking and career transition more impactful and more comfortable for job seekers. Laura has a solid background in sales and marketing, and is not pursuing her calling by seeking a degree in Counseling Psychology.

Scene 2: Networking is third in a four-part series of career focused workshops specifically designed for seasoned professionals navigating challenges of career change and potential age bias in today's job market. CTC addresses head-on the "dinosaur in the room," providing tips, strategies and real life examples to give the competitive edge to those in career transition. Covering use of informational interviews, positions and outreach critical to all job seekers, you will hear insights that will help all in transition better position themselves for greater distinction and success!

What is NLU Career Academy?

National Louis University's Career Development Office has teamed up with The Career Transitions Center of Chicago to bring you a series of workshops to prepare you to be a career star. Each session is facilitated by an experienced Career Coach, who will train you on how to walk down the red carpet to career success - from writing your script (branding yourself) to winning a role with a company (advice from hiring managers).
