Join CleanTech Alliance for lunch on Tuesday, February 20, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm as we welcome Dr. Sanjiv Malhotra, Director of the Energy Investment Center within the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions.

The DOE Energy Investment Center serves as a single point of contact for investors for accessing promising projects and subject matter experts. EIC works with program offices within DOE and its national labs to craft innovative models for public private partnerships with the objective of enhancing private sector investment.
Previously, from 2005 to 2014, Dr. Malhotra served as the Founder, President and CEO of Oorja Protonics, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of methanol fuel cells. During his time at the company, he attracted more than $32 million in investments from leading private sector equity firms, including Sequoia Capital, DAG Ventures and several others.
Over the course of his diverse career, Dr. Malhotra has been an advisor at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers, served as part of the executive management team at DCH Technology and H Power Corp, and worked as a researcher at DOE’s Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory. He led H Power to a successful $104 million IPO in 2000.
Dr. Malhotra holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in business administration, and a doctoral degree in chemical and biochemical engineering from the University of Iowa.
