Who:

Side by Side is the only program in Georgia - and one of only three in the region - that offers brain-injured adults a pathway to self-sufficiency through a proven partnership approach. We are striving to expand our programs, services and infrastructure so that all Georgians who have suffered a brain injury will be able to regain self-sufficiency and enjoy rich and meaningful lives with their friends, peers, and loved ones.

The Atlanta Woman's Club, a philanthropic organization made up of women who work together to improve our local community, is extremely proud to host and sponsor One Big Night for LuRae, a roast and toast in honor of LuRae Ahrendt and in support of The Side by Side 2020 Initiative. Learn more at www.atlwc.org

About Side by Side

People with brain injuries come from every walk of life: mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, coworkers, friends, neighbors, business executives, athletes, returning veterans, first responders ... But virtually all face huge unknowns when they come home from the hospital:  Will I need nonstop caregiving? Will I be able to work again?  Will I have friends and colleagues?  Will I live a productive life?  For the hundreds of adults in Georgia's brain injury community, Side by Side provides comforting answers to these life-altering questions.

About LuRae Ahrendt

LuRae Ahrendt has spent decades creating a lasting legacy for Georgia's brain injury community.  As a business owner, a certified rehabilitation nurse,  case manager and  life care planner, expert witness, editor, lecturer and published author, she has been a powerful professional advocate for children and adults facing a lifetime of rehabilitation from catastrophic injury. As a volunteer, she is active on the board of Side by Side, on the advisory board of Families of Children Under Stress, with the Brain Injury Association of Georgia as current camp co-chair and past board chair, and in medical missions outreach. In retirement, LuRae is using her expertise and energy to expand the network of brain injury support services statewide, including lifelong access, funding, and availability.
