Founded in 1850, Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery spans 48 acres of gardens, wildlife and sculpture and is the final resting place for 70,000 people, including author Margaret Mitchell, 27 Atlanta mayors, six former governors, Civil War officers and soldiers. In addition to offering expansive green space for recreation, Oakland Cemetery serves as a cultural resource for lifelong learners who come to study history, art, architecture, archaeology, horticulture, photography and more. In partnership with the City of Atlanta, Historic Oakland Foundation works to preserve, restore, enhance and share Oakland Cemetery. Visit www.oaklandcemetery.com for more details.

Cocktails & Conservation is a special fundraising event whose proceeds will support the restoration of the 1908 Women's Comfort Station at Oakland Cemetery, a small, single-room structure located near the Jewish Grounds at Oakland Cemetery. Constructed in 1908 as a restroom and place of refuge from rain or excessive sunlight, this historically and architecturally significant structure has been vacant for a half century and is rapidly deteriorating from weather and neglect. Upon restoration, the goal is to repurpose the building as a revolving exhibit space to showcase the history of Atlanta and Oakland.
