...because the words homeless and veteran
should never be in the same sentence

Who:

Founded in 2009, Women Veterans Interactive (WVI) serves women veterans who, after serving side-by-side with male counterparts, still do not receive the same level of post-military support and recognition. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, women veterans, including single mothers, are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. Like their male counterparts, women veterans do not become homeless overnight. Often it is the result of a series of circumstances, including unemployment, underemployment, depression, hopelessness, financial illiteracy, and other transitional uncertainties that they are unprepared for as they return to civilian life. With members nationwide, WVI provides outreach and support services tailored to address the unique – and often unrecognized – challenges facing our nation’s 2.3 million women veterans.

The Atlanta Woman's Club, a philanthropic organization made up of women who work together to improve our local community, is extremely proud to host and sponsor Jocks & Pearls, an event in support of Women Veterans Interactive. Learn more at www.atlwc.org.

Why Support the Jocks and Pearls Gala?

Jocks and Pearls Gala will benefit WVI's Operation Safety Net program, which provides emergency funding and financial literacy programs for women veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The Women Veterans Transition Space is a proactive program that provides career and workforce development skills to transition women veterans from service to success.
