Centro Alliance Education Opportunity: A Compassionate Approach to Homelessness

Please join Centro and meet the outreach teams working together to address quality of life issues in our inner city. The SAPD H.O.P.E Team, the SAPD SAFFE Team, and Haven for Hope will discuss and educate Alliance & PID members on how their programs work together to help individuals experiencing homelessness downtown.

SAPD Homeless Outreach Positive Encounters (H.O.P.E.) Team, is a community-oriented collaboration between public and private/non-profit service providers which is facilitated by the San Antonio Police Department.  The team is there to assist and inform the homeless of all the resources available to them, to build a rapport that re-shapes attitudes and impressions of both the homeless and law enforcement communities and encourage them to be an independent functioning member of the community.

SAPD San Antonio Fear Free Environment (SAFFE) Team consists of over 100 officers who focus on identifying, evaluating and resolving community crime problems with the cooperation and participation of community residents. SAFFE officers are assigned to specific areas or neighborhoods within the city, and work closely with both residents and the district patrol officers also assigned to those areas.

Haven for Hope is a non-profit organization aimed at transforming the lives of homeless individuals in the San Antonio/Bexar County area. Partnering with 78 governmental, non-profit and faith-based agencies, Haven for Hope seeks to transform the lives of the homeless by addressing the root causes of homelessness through education, job training and behavioral health services. They provide critical social services to help the homeless become self-sufficient individuals on a long-term basis
