Union activity continues to create challenges for private sector employees of all sizes, shapes and industries (particularly for those in healthcare, construction, manufacturing, distribution and hospitality).
Employers need to be prepared with the right information in order to combat the growing onslaught of union activity. For those employers who wish to remain union-free, it’s crucial to understand key labor law developments that continue to impact management’s ability to maintain a union-free work environment. The NLRB’s “Ambush Election” rules are still in play, and dramatically lessen the amount of time for employers to respond to a formal union petition. Additionally, courts and labor officials (despite President Trump’s election) are still aiming to gag an employer’s ability to effectively deal with union activity. Employers MUST be proactive in order to manage the threat of union organizing today or responding to union pickets, boycotts and other problems.

This webinar is taught by top management-side Labor & Employment Attorneys with the law firm of
SmithAmundsen, LLC, will provide multiple real life examples and up-to-date information that business owners, officers, managers and human resource professionals must have in 2017.

Topics include: state of organized labor in the United States (including a local and regional perspective), how unions are “marketing” themselves to today’s workforce, assessing employer vulnerabilities to union organizing, effective employee communication programs, processes supervisors and managers should take to proactively manage the workforce, the “ins and outs” of avoiding unfair labor practices, and managing pickets, banners and secondary boycotts.

This workshop is limited to management personnel only from private sector companies and businesses.
