Hellebore Pre-Sale for Pick-Up at the Christmas Hurrah! 

Plan for Christmas: Plan now for holiday decorating indoors & out by pre-ordering your hellebores for pick-up at the Christmas Hurrah! December 5th-7th, 2014. The Christmas roses also make great gifts during the holiday season. You can purchase them à la carte or choose to doll them up with extra sparkle as part of our Do-It-Yourself Indoor Christmas Rose Container.

Plan for Winter: We're also offering other winter-blooming hellebores to keep your garden beautiful through January and February. The information below is organized by when each cultivar starts blooming*. Choose plants from each bloom period for a succession of blooms to keep your spirits bright from December through March! 

While we will still have extra hellebores on hand at the Christmas Hurrah!, pre-ordering helps us get the numbers just right ensuring you get everything you desire! It also allows you to plan out your winter garden in advance!

Early December*

Helleborus niger 'HGC Jesko' - 1g, 21.99
NEW 'Jesko' has large flowers with overlapping petals forming a lovely cupped shape. The flowers are produced in great numbers from late November or early December making it perfect for Christmas decoration inside the house and in the garden. Rich, dark green foliage and a compact habit. Deer resistant.

 

Helleborus niger 'HGC Joshua' - 4.5", 12.99
'Joshua' is one of the earliest cultivars to bloom with classic pure white flowers with a light fragrance. The flowers are produced in great numbers from early December making it perfect for Christmas decoration inside the house and in the garden. Rich, dark green foliage and compact growth. Deer resistant.

Mid December*

Helleborus niger 'HGC Jacob' - 1g, 21.99
Slightly fragrant, single, pure white blooms in profusion make this the best cultivar for Christmas decorating. Flowers turn light green and pink with age. Dark green leaves with serrated edges have burgundy stems. Blooms over a long period from mid December until April with multiple waves of flowers. This selection is a big improvement on the normal H. niger. Deer resistant.

Helleborus niger 'HGC Jasper' - 1g, 21.99
NEW 'Jasper' sports extra, overlapping petals in each flower giving a full, cupped shape. The flowers are produced in great numbers from mid December making it perfect for Christmas decoration inside the house and in the garden. Rich, dark green foliage. Deer resistant.

Helleborus niger 'HGC Jonas' - 1g, 21.99 and 11cm, 16.99
'Jonas' offers tons of flowers each of which has extra petals - 6-7 as opposed to the usual 5. The flowers have a fuller look. It begins to flower in mid December making it perfect for Christmas decoration inside the house and in the garden. Deer resistant.

Helleborus niger 'HGC Josef Lemper' - 1g, 21.99
Slightly cupped, huge, pure white, outward-facing flowers turn to light green. Strong stems and dark green foliage. The largest of the HGC nigers and the toughest for the landscape with loads of garden presence. Blooms over a long period from mid December until April with multiple waves of flowers. This selection is a big improvement on the normal H. niger. Deer resistant.

Early January*

Helleborus 'Penny's Pink' - 1g, 24.99
Pink buds open in early January to deep pink flowers that slowly deepen to green and deep pink tones. The foliage is a bluish-green and emerges with pink-flushed veins that slowly lighten to silver-green. A pink hellebore that could give 'Pink Frost' a run for its money! Great in the garden or containers. Deer resistant.

Helleborus 'Anna's Red' - 1g, 24.99
This breakthrough hellebore brings the bold red colour of the nodding H. x hybridus into the stemmed group of hybrids previously limited to white, green and pink. 'Anna's Red' has bold red flowers held on top of leathery, boldly-mottled foliage that emerges first flushed with red then fading to pink and mint green. Bound to be an instant classic it begins blooming in January. Great in the garden or containers. 
Deer resistant.

Helleborus argutifolius 'HGC Snow Fever' - 1g, 24.99
This variety has deep green foliage flecked with pink and white later fading to green with mint green markings. The pinkish buds open to green outward-facing flowers. The foliage is tough with spiny edges and makes a good evergreen presence in the garden. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x nigersmithii 'HGC Icebreaker Prelude' - 1g, 21.99
The white flowers emerge in early January with a green flush down the centre of each sepal giving the appearance of a green star. The flowers age to a glowing green sometimes with a hint of pink. Blue-grey compact foliage. Great in the landscape. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x nigercors 'HGC Icebreaker Pico' - 1g, 21.99
'Shooting Star' produces incredible mounds of small creamy white flowers with pink reverses starting in mid January. As the flowers age pink and green develops in the face of the flower. Red stems and rich green foliage complete the show. Blooms over a long period from February to April with multiple waves of flowers. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x ericsmithii 'HGC Marlon' - 1g, 21.99
Bright white flowers open in January and develop a pink tinge with age, held by purple stems above dark green foliage with lighter green veins. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x ericsmithii 'HGC Monte Cristo' - 1g, 21.99
This stunner has mounds of blue-grey leaves above which are held creamy white and yellowish flowers with peachy pink reverses on red stems. Flowers age to green and pink. Deer resistant.

Mid January*

Helleborus x ballardiae 'HGC Maestro' - 1g, 21.99
'Maestro' starts blooming in January with pink buds opening to white flowers with dusty rose reverses. Flowers then age to a lovely pink. Compact plants, deep green leaves with lighter veins and red stems. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x ericsmithii 'HGC Shooting Star' - 1g, 21.99
'Shooting Star' produces incredible mounds of small creamy white flowers with pink reverses starting in mid January. As the flowers age pink and green develops in the face of the flower. Helleborus x ballardiae 'HGC Pink Frost' - 1g, 21.99
One of the best pink hellebores with pink buds opening in February to reveal pink flowers that mature to deep pink. The darkest pink tones develop in colder temperatures. Handsome, silvery green foliage on red stems. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x ballardiae 'HGC Love Bug' - 1g, 21.99
Pink buds followed by small pink flowers maturing to deep pink all starting in early February. The darkest pink tones develop in colder temperatures. Handsome, silvery green foliage on red stems. The leaves and flowers are slightly smaller than 'Pink Frost'. Great in containers! Deer resistant.

Helleborus x ballardiae 'Mahogany Snow' - 1g, 21.99
'Mahogany Snow' offers mounds of big flowers with pink buds opening to white with pink reverses and then aging to mahogany pink. Compact plants, deep green leaves and reddish stems. Deer resistant.

Helleborus x ballardiae 'HGC Merlin' - 1g, 21.99
'Merlin' is a magical hellebore with pink buds opening in early February to pink flowers that age to an incredible raspberry purple. Pinks will be deeper in cooler temperatures. The outward facing flowers sit atop mounds of dark green foliage and are held on dark reddish stems. Deer resistant.
