Lammas 

Join High Priest Christopher Penczak and the Temple of Witchcraft community to evoke Jack of the Grain as John Barleycorn and the Dark Lady of the Fields. Partake in the mystery of the Cosmic Mill and the Miracle of Bread in this visionary ritual. Working in the Temple of the Stars, we shall evoke the Cosmic Bears that turn the mill of the year and of our lives, separating wheat from chaff and grinding the seed to bake the bread. Within the Miracle of Bread is the mystery of life, death, and resurrection, becoming reborn to our new selves, regenerating during times of trauma. In this very esoteric ritual, we'll work with the Nine Ladies of the Mill and the Seven Rays of the Stars to discover who we will be in the coming cycle and truly understand why John Barleycorn must die!

Preparation 

Give reflection to the following ideas to truly participate in work:

• Name a quality or condition you wish to shed from yourself. This is your chaff. 
• Name an ideal quality you which to invoke, embrace or enhance more in your life. This is your seed. 
• Name two beneficial qualities, habits or actions you take that aid you or others. These are your millstones.

Materials

If possible, but not required at all to participate, have on your altar with you:

• stalks of grain or seeds of grain – it can be simple wild tall grass and not necessarily wheat, or a bowl of grains or cereals ·
• bread – whatever kind that is appropriate for you – from traditional bread to lentil cracker
• drink – any alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage, though beer is preferable 
• incense – incense of a solar nature – frankincense, amber, rosemary

Everything will be done in deep meditative vision, but these items can help set the space for the start and end of the ritual. They are not needed to participate.
