1st International Conference of Muslim Councils in the West

In a groundbreaking initiative, The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) will be launching the 1st International Conference of Muslim Councils in the West. This historic even will be the first of its kind to bring Muslim leaders from around the world together to exchange experiences and discuss common issues of concern to our communities.

The conference will be hosting leaders and decision makers from local, national and international Muslim communities across the globe representing national organizations, Islamic Councils, Islamic Centers, and relief organizations. Also, high ranking government and elected officials from the U.S., EU, and the UN will be in attendance.

The conference will address the following subjects:

  • Identifying and developing strategic priorities for the Muslim communities living as minorities in the west
  • Exchange ideas and develop strategies to address the rise of Islamophobic trends in the west
  • Develop strategies to challenge and counteract the serious problem of violent extremism in all its forms
  • Integration and contribution of the Muslim community to the societies they live in
  • Discuss and develop strategies for the resettlement of the new waves of refugees and exchange experiences and resources

The conference will also feature a day for a press conference to announce a joint statement on the conclusion of the conference. An additional day will be arranged to hold a White House briefing and a visit to the US Congress on Capitol Hill.

There will also be a special banquet night where government and elected officials from the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the ambassadors of the host countries and Muslim countries will be attending.

"Now is the time, more than ever, that a conference of this scale, uniting the voices of Muslims across the world, is vital to our continued growth and development as a global community!"
