Curt Haselton, Consultant to the ATC-58-2 Products Update Team, California State University, Chico, and developer of the SP3 Seismic Performance Prediction Program
Mike Mahoney, FEMA Project Officer and Senior Staff Member for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Earthquake Program

Training Objective:

FEMA P-58 series of reports, initially published in 2012, and updated in 2018, presents a methodology, guidance on implementation, and electronic tools for seismic performance assessment and performance-based design of buildings. The recently completed ATC-58-2 Project has expanded the series of products to provide new tools and guidance on performance-based design using the FEMA P-58 methodology, and new information for communication with stakeholders.  It also utilized the methodology in evaluating the performance of code-conforming buildings using FEMA P-58 performance metrics.

This training seminar will provide an overview of the newly available FEMA P-58 tools and guidance for design, examples on simplified and detailed implementation of the methodology, and information on the expected performance of code-conforming buildings.

Training Materials: Presentation slides will be provided as handouts. The complete set of updated FEMA P-58 products are available for download at: http://femap58.atcouncil.org/
