Songwriting workshop with Paul Reisler, Amherst, VA

Poetic Songwriting for adults (16 & up). This is a wide-ranging workshop that goes from the spark of an idea, through the creation of images, lines, melodies, and on into a song. It gives specific techniques for the process to keep you from ever getting writer's block again.

Paul is the founder of Kid Pan Alley & Trapezoid and has performed in over 3,000 concerts over the last 40 years and recorded dozens of album. He’s written more songs than the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Stephen Foster combined—somewhere north of 3,500 compositions thanks to his 50,000 Kid Pan Alley collaborators as well as a number of Grammy winning co-writers.

He’s also one of the most popular songwriting teachers in the country and has taught at workshops and songwriting schools including Rocky Mountain Song School, Utah Song School, New Song Academy, Swannanoa Gathering, Augusta Workshop, Hollyhock, Kerrville, NSAI, Songcamp in the Mountains, Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, Berklee College of Music, University of the Pacific, and Moulin á Nef (France).

This event is sponsored by Second Stage, Kid Pan Alley and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
