The ABC's of IEP's

FREE all-day IEP Institute from the Exceptional Children's Assistance Center (ECAC)

Join us to learn how to:

  • work collaboratively with school staff to create a supportive program for your special needs child
  • effectively address concerns and maintain positive communication between home and school
  • translate your child's needs into a Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAP-FP)
  • write effective measurable goals and objectives
  • define 'related services' and 'supplementary aids' needed for your child
  • identify differences between accommodations, modifications and services
  • exert your role in the IEP process as a PARTNER and how to prepare and effectively participate in the process

This training is focused on the PARENTS' role in the IEP process.  Educators, administrators and other professionals are welcome to participate but MUST BRING A PARENT of a special needs child with them.

Training materials, break refreshments and lunch are provided at no charge and made possible in part by ECAC, and by funding from OPC Community Operations Center, Orange County, Oak Foundation, JCPC, the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, as well as private donations.
