Mechatronics between Academia and Industry
Workshop on the changes, needs and trends of mechatronics education

Hosted by American University of Sharjah
Sponsored by Quanser

Mechatronics has emerged as one of the most important trends in modern engineering and is the heartbeat of such critical fields as Robotics, Smart Systems, IoT, Industrial IoT, Cyberphysical Systems, and Industry 4.0. Given the unique needs that academic institutions have to address in this field, this workshop aims to engage key stakeholders in Industry and Academia in a discussion of the challenges of mechatronics and to draw their respective priorities and best practices to shape the future of this multidisciplinary field.

The two parties will discuss ways to reconcile the respective visions into pragmatic, effective roadmaps for post-secondary institutions, including universities and higher colleges of technology. The workshop program will be an engaging mix of presentations, technology demonstrations, and open discussion.

The workshop is free of charge. Complimentary lunch will be served.

Sessions will include:

  • Mechatronics education in the UAE
  • Mechatronics education in North America
  • Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things
  • Industry panel: What are the key technologies and skills that are needed for tomorrow's applications?
  • Open discussion: How should universities respond to the emerging needs of industry

Sessions are subject to change. Download the agenda.
