Don't miss Maestro Anthony Barrese talking about how he has restored Ali Baba, the opera that will make its modern American premiere at Opera Southwest beginning on October 20. This work by Giovanni Bottesini, a Verdi protege who conducted the world premiere of Aida, is based on One Thousand and One Nights. It made a splash in London in 1871 but disappeared into obscurity shortly thereafter. Like Amleto (aka Hamlet, composed by Franco Faccio), Maestro Barrese has brought this important music back to life.
