M. Butterfly

Join us for a fascinating talk by Mark Tiarks about the complex genesis of M. Butterfly, a new opera with its World Premiere in Santa Fe in 2020.  This work will be based on an opera (Madama Butterfly) that was based on a play that was based on a short story that was based on a novel.   Add to that mix the true story of a French diplomat who fell in love with a Chinese opera singer with two shocking secrets, and you have a compelling new work.
