Course Description

The objective of this 4-day expert level course is to educate personnel on the critical aspects of oxygen system design and fire risk analysis. Attendees will learn about materials selection, ignition mitigation, and good practices related to system design, cleaning, operations, and maintenance. The class will also perform case study applications using WHA's state of the art Oxygen Fire Risk Analysis (OFRA) method, which is consistent with the latest industry standards for performing oxygen hazard analyses and oxygen compatibility assessments.


Days 1 and 2 focus on building a strong foundation of understanding by studying the underlying data and justification that supports materials selection and design methodology. WHA’s OFRA approach is introduced based on these fundamental concepts.

Days 3 and 4 focus on applying the OFRA method to real life case studies drawn from a variety of system conditions and industries. Attendees will work in teams to identify oxygen hazards and develop solutions that lower the probability and consequences of ignition. The case studies considered will include industry-specific systems that are applicable to the
course attendees.

Continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments are provided each day.

Intended Audience

Our level 4 curriculum offers exclusive benefits, custom-tailored for process engineers, system designers and engineers, material and process engineers, and safety engineers and managers. There are no prerequisits for this course.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be in writing. Fax cancellations to 575-541-3621 or email to training@wha-intl.com, attention Oxygen Course Registration. Include the attendee’s name and the date of the course for which they were registered. If the course is postponed or cancelled by WHA, your course fee will be refunded in full, including administrative fees.* (WHA is not responsible for any other non-refundable course-related expenses.)

Refund Policy: Refund deadline is 30 business days prior to the course start date. Full refund, less a $250 non-refundable administrative fee, will be given if cancellation is made on or by the refund deadline. No refunds will be made after the refund deadline. If registrant is unable to attend, course fees can be transferred to another person or credited toward a future course. In the event that course fees increase, registrant is responsible for the difference. Arrangements must be made prior to the course date.
