ZOE is a United Methodist-affiliated nonprofit breaking the cycle of extreme poverty around the world by empowering orphans and vulnerable children to become entrepreneurs who are socially, economically, and spiritually strong —transforming entire communities in the process! Youth will experience serving by coordinating their own fundraising campaign for ZOE before coming to Lake Junaluska. Kids will then get to celebrate their fundraising efforts as they come to understand how Christians, regardless of age or circumstance, can unite to make a real, lasting difference in the World.

IGC Confirmation Retreat Weekend #1

March 8 - 10, 2019 with Rev. Corey Milliet

About the Weekends:

The mission of the Intentional Growth Center’s Confirmation weekends is to serve youth and those who work with youth by preparing young people to understand the decision they will make on Confirmation Sunday. We focus on helping young people to understand God’s desire to have a relationship with them and what it means to be a meaningful part of the Church for the transformation of the world.

Youth worship together and hear messages from our star lineup of speakers throughout the weekends. These messages will help young people see God’s grace in their own lives and understand the decision they will make before the church. The Saturday workshops will prepare youth to understand what it means to live out their faith in Christ in the context of their own lives and communities. New in 2019, "Discover Your Call" will help youth to connect their God-given gifts with opportunities to serve in their own communities. Youth will leave the weekend with a Service Action Plan to help them design their own service project when they return home.

Guest Speaker Rev. Corey Milliet has been serving alongside teenagers in Youth Ministry for 14 years. She currently serves as the Director of Youth, College and Young Adult Ministries at Matthews UMC in Matthews, NC. Corey is also the lead teaching pastor at the 801South worship service on Sunday mornings. Corey graduated with her Masters of Christian Education and a specialization in Youth Ministries from Pfeiffer University in August 2014 and is a Full Connection Deacon of the United Methodist Church in the WNCC. She loves spending time with teenagers, helping them discover their identity in Christ, and finding ways that God is at work in their lives.
