Needle felting is a relatively new art form that utilizes ancient materials and modern tools to create soft sculptures. natural fibers like wool, silk and alpaca come in a dazzling array of colors and textures which allow for infinite variations and personalization of the finished piece. The teacher will guide students through the construction process and students will choose their own variations. Visual references will be on hand if you prefer to make a more accurate depiction of a particular bird.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Meg is a lifelong artist and crafty crafterson and really wants you to find her as hilarious as she finds herself. Birds hold a special place in Meg’s heart, but she can really only name a few out in the wild. Her felting business called Scribblenest took flight in 2009 after a community ed class rekindled her passion for making stuff and became her safety net after getting booted out of Corporate America in 2010. “Felting opened a door that had sealed itself shut after college. I was an art major and later got my Master’s in Art Ed but took it all too seriously and fell out of love with creating. I always considered myself a painter, but I was too scared of failing. Fiber art reminded me that my heart sings when I’m making stuff and that the process is just as fulfilling as the finished product.
