PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
> Experience the drama therapy process in action
> Work on managing complex group dynamics through therapeutic play
> Gain practical skills in how to use metaphor to safely explore trauma & challenging life experiences
> Understand the value of creative self-expression within a variety of clinical & educational settings
> Learn how to structure a complete creative therapy session from warm-up to closure
> Participate in drama therapy interventions aimed at improving client/student relatedness, self-esteem, emotional expression and self-regulation, spontaneity and the capacity to play a diverse range of life roles
> Leave with a comprehensive training manual reviewing the CANY model of drama therapy
The program will be divided into three components:
EXPERIENTIAL
You will engage with the CANY model in practical terms, learning through experiential activities and exercises facilitated by CANY staff and later by you and your co-participants.
THEORETICAL
You will explore the theoretical rationale that lies behind the CANY model, individual exercises and techniques, learning through trainer-led presentation and group discussion.
SUPERVISORY
You will explore your own experience of facilitating exercises and techniques with clients as the training process unfolds. The CANY trainers will guide you through a weekly supervisory check-in.
