Innovation and Sustainability for Arts Organizations:
A Discussion with BAM's William Lynch and Yaddo's Elaina Richardson

Join the Regional Alliance for a Creative Economy (led by Center for Economic Growth and The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region), for an armchair discussion between William Lynch, Director of Leadership Gifts for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Elaina Richardson, President of Yaddo.

This event is intended for employees, volunteers and board members of arts and cultural organizations, and will address:

  • The tenets of building a world-class arts organization;
  • Lessons local arts organizations can learn from the Brooklyn Academy of Music's history of innovation;
  • The relationships between innovation, growth and sustainability for arts organizations;
  • Building a local audience for innovative, world-class art and culture.

BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) is a multi-arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 15  0 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences and ideas--engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

  William Lynch is a leader in the field of development for arts organizations, with a career spanning more than 25 years. Lynch has worked with BAM since 2001 (initially serving as Director of Grants), and has served as Director of Leadership Gifts since 2011. From 1995 to 2005, Lynch served as an adjunct professor for the New School, where he taught the one-day course "Obtaining Grants from Foundations and Corporations" in the Adult Education Division.
