Hear from our key note speaker Martin G. Hacala, President and CEO of General Star and Genesis.

Marty is President and CEO of General Star and Genesis, a role he assumed in January, 2015. He began his career with the Gen Re Group in 1997 and has held a number of senior underwriting and claims positions with Genesis, General Star and Gen Re.

Marty is a frequent public speaker and author who has addressed a wide variety of insurance and reinsurance topics, including wrongful convictions, concussions and securities class actions.

Prior to joining the Gen Re Group, Marty was a partner in the Washington, BC law firm of Ross, Dixon & Bell, LLP, where his practice centered on insurance coverage litigation and counseling.  He represented a number of major insurers in federal and state trial and appellate courts throughout the country.  Prior to joining Ross, Dixon & Bell, Marty served for four years as a Trial Attorney in the Employment Litigation Section of the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, a position to which he was appointed through the Attorney General's Honors Program.  Marty received his BA and JD degrees with honors from Saint Louis University.  He was an Articles Editor for the Public Law Review and a recipient of the White Family Fellowship in Public Law and Goverment.
