As special needs children transition to adulthood, there are two very important questions that every parent must answer, they are: “Who will care for my child?” and “How will we afford that care?” Larry and David will cover government benefits, care management, and legal options for parents of special needs children. Topics covered include:
- Who’s going to be involved in your child’s life when you no longer can?
- Will you need a private advocate, guardian, or care giver for your child?
- Will you need and do you qualify for public benefits such as SSI or Medical Assistance?
- Will you need a special needs trust, an A.B.L.E. account, or private funding?
- Will you need a successor care giver for your adult child—health advocate; agent under Power of Attorney or professionally certified guardian?
