Construction 101: Blueprint Reading
Join us for our Blueprint Reading class! The first session introduces students to the basics while the second session focuses on methodology and builds on the basics. In-person attendance is preferred as each session features hands-on learning activities, however, online attendance is also available. Registration covers both sessions 1 & 2.

This course is designed to provide a basic level of knowledge for beginners to read, navigate and use construction documents. Introduction to plans, elevations, sections, details, symbols, dimensions, scales, and notes commonly found in architectural, civil, mechanical, and structural drawings.
Blueprint Reading 1: January 27th, 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Introduction to the basics:
- Understand scales and dimensions
- Understand different drawing types and their usage
- Understand the different stages of drawing preparation
- Understand the differences between a floor plan, section, and elevation, and how to utilize them
- Understand how to use symbols, line types, abbreviations, and material schedules
- Understand a complete document set and how they work together
Blueprint Reading 2: February 10th, 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Methodology - Build on the basics:
- Experience plan reading, scaling for dimensions & areas, finding finishes & details
- Be able to find trade information using blueprints
- Be able to answer basic construction questions related to the layout and installation
- Be able to identify elementary discrepancies and conflicts
