Using the Play Therapy Dimensions Model in Play Therapy

with Dr Lorri Yasenik

2 x Live Online Workshops

Tuesday 15th November & Tuesday 29th November 2022

4pm - 7pm GMT UK time

This 2 x session live online course will explore the Play Therapy Dimensions Model with Dr Lorri Yasenik.  The Play Therapy Dimensions Model is an integrative model to enable the Play Therapist to make informed decisions to meet the individual child’s needs. It incorporates two dimensions.  The unconscious/conscious dimension and the non-directive/directive dimension.  It is then further extended into four quadrants.  Children move between the dimensions and quadrants depending on their presenting need each session.  This model allows the Play Therapist to track and understand the child’s therapeutic process.  Dr Yasenik will examine the different dimensions and quadrants enabling Play Therapists to further develop their skills in tracking the child’s therapeutic process. Participants will be introduced to the Play Therapy Dimensions Model for use in conceptualizing and decision-making in Play Therapy.

The two Dimensions of Directiveness and Consciousness will be explored. When and how and why do play therapists decide to enter the play?

Those in attendance will examine the 4 quadrants (Active Utilization, Open Discussion and Exploration, Non-Intrusive Responding and Co-Facilitation) through the use of case examples.

Learn how to use the PTDM case conceptualization form through the use of a participant case example.

The training will also review 3 play therapy tools: The Child and Therapist Moderating Factors Scale, Degree of Immersion: Therapeutic Use of Self Scale and the Tracking and Observation Form.
