Thread your sewing machine, it's time to make a quilt!
The Magic of Monarchs Quilt Show will be held during the middle day of the annual Arts in Bloom Wine & Art Festival
in Downtown McKinney at the Heard Craig Center for the Arts (corner of Church & Hunt Street) on Saturday, April 10 from 11 am to 4 pm.
Why a Monarch themed show? We want to bring awareness about the plight of the Monarch with a form of art that's not represented at the Arts in Bloom festival. The Monarch population has declined by approximately 90 percent since the 1990s, faces habitat loss, and suffers fragmentation in the United States as well as Mexico. Using this distinctive art medium, we would like to present these striking creatures as well as the beauty of their natural environment to the community in an effort to raise awareness to the difficulties they face. We ask you to please submit your handmade butterfly or nature-inspired quilts to help us in this endeavor.
