3rd Annual Youth Summit
Join the Institute @ CESA #1 for its 3rd Annual Youth Summit on March 18, 2014!
Districts are invited to select up to six students from grades 8-12 (7th grade on their discretion) to participate in this event. Districts should select a representative mix of students based on grade, gender, social groups, academic performance, etc. Up to 2 adults per team of 6 students are also able to attend. (a parallel program will be run).
Participating districts should be committed to personalized learning as the prevailing approach to educating youth. They should also be committed to listening and finding ways to incorporate greater student voice and ownership into their educational system.
Students will engage in dialogue about personalized learning, hear from other students currently experiencing personalized learning, and work on an action plan as a district team for how to change learning in their schools. At the end, the students will have an opportunity to share their ideas with the adults from their districts.
Attire should be business casual.
Students are encouraged to bring and use their own device for the day to participate in the backchannel on Twitter and as they plan and work throughout the day.
Video and photography footage will be captured during the event, therefore release forms are required for all student participants. You may use the CESA #1 form here, or send your district release if applicable. We must receive a release ahead of time for all student participants.
There is a fee of $60 per person/Institute member (student and adult) or $90 per person/Non-Institute member (student and adult) to attend this event.
If you're interested in bringing more than one team, please let us know and we can put you on a waiting list for additional seats.
Please coordinate the process of registration within your district if you have multiple schools that may be sending students.
Registration will close on March 7th. Late registrations cannot be accepted.
