4th Annual Youth Summit
Be Your Own Leader
Join the Institute @ CESA #1 for its 4th Annual Youth Summit on February 16, 2015!
Students will be encouraged to put themselves in the driver's seat of their own education -- to push themselves to be their own leader.
About the Day
Students will be introduced (or their understanding reinforced) to the concept of personalized learning and understand the work that is occurring in Southeastern Wisconsin. They will have the opportunity to reflect on their own learning experience and hear from other students as well. In fact, most of the day students will be engaging and discussing with students not from their school. At the end of the day, students and educators will be encouraged to think about how they can develop a vision, listen to others, and take action as leaders.
Logistics
- Students are encouraged to bring and use their own device for the day to participate in the backchannel on Twitter and as they plan and work throughout the day use #cesa1ys to participate.
- Students are encouraged to dress like leaders -- business casual!
Registration
- We invite schools and districts to select students from grades 7-12 to participate in this event. Districts should select a representative mix of students based on grade, gender, social groups, academic performance, etc. This is a student-centered event, we ask that you limit adult registration to no more than 2 per 6 students.
- Participating districts should be actively exploring or committed to personalized learning practices. This is an opportunity to honor our commitment to incorporate learner participation in their education.
IMPORTANT: Video and photography footage will be captured during the event, therefore release forms are required for all student participants. You may use the CESA #1 form here, or send your district release if applicable. We must receive a release ahead of time for all student participants.
There is a fee of $60 per person/Institute member (student and adult) or $90 per person/Non-Institute member (student and adult) to attend this event.
Registration will close on February 6, 2015. Late registrations cannot be accepted.
