Cultivating Mindfulness in the Classroom

Experience what mindfulness looks like in daily life and in the classroom through lecture, small group discussion and experiential learning with  presenter Dr. Paul Norton.

Dr. Norton is a pediatrician who has worked extensively with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin since beginning his residency in 1978, up to his retirement in 2016. For the last 10 years Dr. Norton was devoted exclusively to developmental behavioral pediatrics, and now teaches mindfulness in a variety of settings and groups at Milwaukee Mindfulness Center.

During this training, participants will…

  • Recognize the signs of stress and anxiety in the workplace, and use tools help manage them
  • Explore the benefits of mindfulness for educators, both as a tool for self-regulation and resiliency, as well as for a vehicle for appreciating your work
  • Better understand how to develop a daily mindfulness practice
  • Develop skills to share with your students
  • Learn how to promote a culture of mindfulness
  • Gain valuable insight into the joy that led people to be educators in the first place
