Comprehensive Intervention Model: Interactive Writing Intervention

This workshop is designed for kindergarten and first grade teachers to help students learn and apply early reading and writing behaviors.  The intervention focuses on teaching students how writing will help improve reading. Focus is on teaching students how to acquire foundational concepts of print, and how to apply them while composing a simple message. Time will be spent learning the components of the Interactive Writing intervention and the alignment of the intervention to classroom instruction.

Objectives:

• Explore apprenticeship approach to learning
• Review zone of proximal development
• Develop self-regulated learners
• Teach for transfer
• Incorporate ongoing assessments
• Develop format of the intervention (predictable routine)
• Align to classroom instruction
  

All participants will be required to purchase/bring a copy of the text, Interventions that Work: A Comprehensive Intervention Model for Preventing Reading Failure in Grades K-3.
If you do not wish to purchase the text, we will purchase one for you and the cost will be included in your registration - please be sure to select the $280 payment option when registering. Participants must register by March 28th to be guaranteed a copy of the text.
