Keynote: John Kibler - “Mediating Home and School Cultural Mismatch”
Educators will examine a skill set to help guide predicting, understanding and reacting to cultural differences between home and school. John directs the Elementary Education and Undergraduate TESOL programs for Edgewood College’s School of Education.
Uniting Families and Educators: Support parents and educators as newcomers adjust to culture and school. Breakout groups for immigrants/refugees, TESOL Tool Kit, family perspectives, and more.
Uniting All Teachers: Address strengths and challenges that educators encounter when working with ELs. Resources and strategies will be shared with participants to assist educators in supporting ELs in their social and academic achievement. Breakout groups for EC, Elementary, Secondary, and Specialists!
Equitable Resources: Support school and community literature with high impact resources to reach ELs and their families. John Kibler will share resources to support the work.
