SWPTA Mid-Year Training

Join SWPTA members, June 14-15 for our Annual Mid-Year Training in Reno, NV at the Silver Legacy Hotel.  Jim Lopey, Nevada Dept of Public Safety will present Active Shooter Training, Julie Dixon, Dixon Resources Unlimited, will offer Parking Enforcement and Vicki Pero, the Marlyn Group will present Customer Service and Managing UP: Leadership Training.

Active Shooter Training

The Private/Public Environment/School Active Shooter Assessment Class designed by FEMA, with additional customized segments by the Nevada Threat Analysis Center (NTAC) is intended to orient school employees and private/governmental owners and operators about the general modus operandi of Active Shooters.  The course sponsored by the City and Reno, the Southwest Parking & Transportation Association and Family Services and the Nevada Threat Analysis Center (NTAC) applies to volunteers, students and employees of public and private workplace domains.  The first module defines the term Active Shooter and examines the profile of the typical offender.  The tactics, weaponry, warning signs and the pre-planning efforts of the typical Active Shooter are discussed along with various statistics in regards to the average offender.  Case studies are presented in regards to Columbine, Virginian Tech, Sandy Hook and San Bernardino.  The case studies are intended to provide insight and instruction for future recognition of potentially harmful incidents which could evolve into Active Shooter episodes or other violence. In addition some preventative and intervention strategies are discussed, including recommended procedures that focus on circumventing attacks before they occur and the integration of EMS and evacuation teams when entering public and private domains in search of perpetrator(s).

Parking Enforcement – The Basics & Beyond

This interactive session will focus on ‘the basics & beyond’, including customer service and technology for parking enforcement.  We cannot forget that often times, a PEO may be the only contact that a parking patron may have with your agency.  PEOs are a direct representation of your Agency and they should become customer service ambassadors for your community.  Their enforcement duties not only ensure parking availability and vehicle turnover, but can allow an outlet for public relations and addressing community aesthetics and safety hazards.

Customer Service - Achieving Success in with Every Customer Interaction

Customer service is a common buzz word in our industry, but what does success look like in any given type of interaction?  In this hands on session, we will focus on practical applications that participants can use to create positive experiences with customers.  Whether you're new to your role or a seasoned industry veteran, join us to learn new techniques that put you in the driver's seat regardless of the customer interaction.
