SWPTA Webinar Series Presents

Risk Management/OSHA

Friday, March 1, 2019 @ 10:30 AM PST

In this first 2019 offering in the SWPTA webinar series, we’ll focus on the safety and exposure issues resulting from basic cleanup operations where animal or avian biological hazards exist.  OSHA regulates worker safety on the job, and parking professionals need to be aware of the hazards that affect employee safety. Our expert will go through the particular hazards associated with these jobs and offer practices to protect the employee and mitigate exposure to dangerous biological aerosols.

Presenter: Jim Biddle, NAU Environmental, Health & Safety Department

Jim Biddle currently works with the NAU Environmental, Health & Safety department tasked with helping the campus comply with all applicable EPA and OSHA regulations.  Making sure people get home safe is his #1 priority.  His undergraduate work was in environmental science with graduate endeavors in the environmental and safety management field.  He also holds a board certification in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene, or occupational safety & health.  What does this mean?  If you detect a hazardous agent or situation arising in or from your work place that could lead to sickness, injury, or even death, steps will be taken to assess and mitigate that potential through appropriate risk-reduction procedures.

Outside of work Jim is married and has two daughters (and two dogs, two cats, and a hedgehog) that are approaching the college years (not the animals).  He also enjoys working out and mountain biking with his buddies to help keep the pounds off the waistline!
