The E Word Webinar Series 2020
The word “Evangelism” has gotten a bad reputation. How do we reclaim a holistic way of living out and talking about our faith, reminiscent of John and Charles Wesley’s original “Methodist movement”, so that the people we meet can be introduced to the transforming power of a relationship with Jesus Christ?
This 3-week course is a great follow-up for those who have participated in the Evangelism for Non-Evangelists Webinar series or a learning/conversation session with The Foundation for Evangelism. There are no “pre-requisites” but the webinar will be more meaningful if you read Evangelism for Non-Evangelists ahead of time (if you are unable to purchase a copy, let us know at registration).

Rev. Dr. Heather Lear
Research & Teaching Fellow for The Foundation for Evangelism
Rev. Dr. Heather Lear works with The Foundation for Evangelism as the Teaching and Research Fellow. Prior to that, she served as the Director of Evangelism for The United Methodist Church Discipleship Ministries. Heather is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church and served local churches in Raleigh-Durham and Rocky Mount areas. In addition to working with the FFE, Heather serves as a representative of the UMC at Evangelism Connections, an ecumenical group that focuses on evangelism, and she is active as a teacher and leader in her local church.
Rev. Dr. Angle Santiago-Vendrell
E. Stanley Jones Associate Professor of Evangelism at Asbury Theological Seminary (Florida Dunnam Campus)
Before serving the United Methodist Church as a local pastor for three years in the New England Conference, Santiago-Vendrell was an evangelist and assistant pastor of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal in Caguas, Puerto Rico for nine years. He is also the founder of LUPUMF, an after school program for underprivileged kids in Lynn, MA.
Santiago-Vendrell is the author of Contextual Theology and Revolutionary Transformation in Latin America: The Missiology of M. Richard Shaull (Pickwick Publications, 2010) and has published articles in professional academic journals such as the International Review of Mission, Apuntes: Theological Reflections from the Hispanic Margins, Studies in World Christianity, Mission Studies, The Journal of Pentecostal Theology, and Feminist Theology.
Rev. Dr. Henry H. "Hal" Knight III
E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism at St. Paul School of Theology
Henry H. Knight III (Hal) is an ordained United Methodist minister and theologian who was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Candler School of Theology and the Emory University Graduate School in Religion. Since 1993 he has taught at Saint Paul School of Theology in Overland Park, Kansas. His passion is enabling persons to work for Wesleyan renewal through growth in the knowledge and love of God and neighbor and participation in God’s mission in the world.
Knight writes in the areas of Wesleyan theology and renewal, especially through evangelism, spiritual practices and means of grace; Evangelical theology in a postmodern context; and the Wesleyan, Holiness and Pentecostal family. He led a six-year Wesleyan/ Pentecostal Consultation consisting of scholars and pastors from these traditions.
Rev. Dr. David M. Whitworth
Bishop Cornelius and Dorothye Henderson E. Stanley Jones Assistant Professor of Evangelism at Gammon Theological Seminary
Dr. David Whitworth is passionate about inspiring, equipping and empowering persons to be disciple-makers and transformational Christian leaders in a global society. He received his M.Div. from Candler School of Theology, Emory University, and his Ph.D. from Cliff College, University of Manchester.
He has also spent time in Paraguay teaching, preaching and conferencing with partners in ministry. Dr. Whitworth pastored churches in North and South Georgia and trained lay and clergy Christian leaders for mentoring the next generation in whole-life discipleship through the non-profit, One Kingdom Mission. He also serves as the United Methodist Strategic Initiatives Liaison with the President’s Office at Gammon Theological Seminary.
