 Dinner With Darryl

Thursday, August 9 - 2018

 6:30 pm

Von Braun Center - East Hall

VIP Reception and "meet & greet" with Darryl starts at 5:00!

A baseball legend and one of the most feared homerun hitters of all time, Darryl Strawberry began his career in 1983 with the New York Mets, swatting 26 homeruns and stealing 19 bases to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award. He quickly became one of the most popular players in Major League Baseball, racking up a total of 4 World Series Championships, 335 homeruns, 1,000 RBIs, and 8 All-Star selections over his 17 year career (mostly with the Mets and Yankees).

Unfortunately, Darryl struggled with drinking and drug use throughout his career, leading to 3 suspensions from baseball, divorce, multiple trips to drug treatment centers, serious financial troubles, and even jail time.

It took some of the darkest times in his life for Darryl to finally find peace and redemption by turning his life over to Jesus. Today, Darryl (also a 2-time cancer survivor) is an ordained minister and travels the country bringing a message of hope to the broken. He and his wife, Tracy, established the Darryl Strawberry Foundation in 2006 to raise money for Autism research, and have also established Christ-centered recovery centers in the Orlando, Florida area.

We're thrilled to have Darryl Strawberry with us to share stories from his career, answer some questions from the audience, and talk about overcoming the bondage of addiction that is plaguing America today.
