Special Pre-Conference Session

What's Your Game Plan? Getting a Strategy in Place

Friday, November 7th 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm                John McFadden, Executive Director               Tennessee Environmental Council

This afternoon workshop will focus on the importance of a strategic plan for your Friends group.  Participants will dig into their mission and vision statements, in an effort to develop specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and timely programs and projects designed to support programmatic activities associated with Friends groups.

As part of the workshop participants will be actively engaged in developing, analyzing, synthesizing and assessing organizational sustainability via current and future programs.  

Participants should bring mission and vision statements, strategic plans, by-laws, budgets, membership brochures and newsletters.

Friends Exhibit Area

Remember to bring a display for your group that includes scrapbooks, photos, brochures, newsletters, items for sale, etc... This is your chance to show off all the wonderful things your group is doing to support your favorite state park.  You also have a chance to win a prize in the display contest.    

                                          

Friends Display Contest

This year's categories are:

  • Best Engages Others in Your Display (interpretive dress, candy, music, game, etc...)
  • Best Use of Photography
  • Best Marketing Materials
  • Best Event Idea or Fundraiser

Field Trips

Saturday, November 8th in the afternoon.  You will have your choice of three trips:

  • Tennessee River Museum
  • Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center - NPS
  • Sugar Camp Hollow Falls Hike at Ross Forests

Kids Programming

Saturday, November 8th starting at 7:45am.  Sign your children up at the registration table.  

Gift Shop

Conference attendees will receive a special discount at the Pickwick Landing State Park gift shop when you show your conference name badge.

Dress is Casual

Show your group or park pride by wearing Friends' or park apparel.

Friends group members and the State Park staff that work with them are invited to Pickwick Landing State Park for the 11th Annual Friends Conference.  Come and learn from educational sessions, share information about best practices, challenges and successes, exchange program and project ideas and celebrate all the outstanding achievements of the Tennessee State Parks Friends' Groups.

 Conference Fees

There will be a $35 registration fee PER GROUP in addition to a $10 registration fee PER FRIENDS MEMBER.  Please choose accordingly when you register.
